Colored Discs on Resident ID Bracelets help alert Care Home Staff

August 12th, 2016

One of the challenges facing staff in a long term care environment is easily identifying residents, their disabilities and conditions, and those residents requiring special care.

To more easily identify and alert care home staff to special case residents many care homes have opted to attach colored discs to resident ID bracelets.

Discs are available in a variety of colors and provide a means of elegantly signifying different resident conditions. For example "red" discs may signify that the resident has diabetes, a gold disc may signify a "wanderer", and purple discs have been used for residents with aggressive behavior tendencies.

Discs can also be engraved with letters such as "D" for diabetic to further help highlight special conditions.
